Quarter 1
The first quarter was planned with the idea of playing the first 3 to 5 minutes defensively man v man
However that was pushed up to full court pressure but with little effect on the opponents as they continued to be strong using their hight and experience etc
Quarter 2
Second quarter went a similar way to the first. In a poor quality game neither team could take a substantial lead and the most was separated by just 5pts
Towers would lead and Rockenhausen would come back in the game with their height near the basket and some unexpected shots!
Lessons learned for the second half
Quarter 3
Still “Towers” could not break away but the continued pressure and traps were now starting to pay off but still had not been as effective as expected but the hard work continued and a start of a break away was emerging and gradually a 9 point lead was opening up but wasn’t stable and was reduced to 5points
Quarter 4
It was the time to get the “Towers running game going build a lead and apply the pressure full court. Again the constant tempo lead to errors from Rockenhausen mistakes in passing and tired players missing some easy scores were making it’s impact felt and Towers slowly but decisively were pulling away to close out the game with a 19pt win
Disappointingly Towers were not able to play their full team on this occasion and adding to that was the poor standard of competition but job was done
Towers 73 – 54 rockenhausen
Towers retain the first place and will start the second round as favourites in Maxdorf 7th December
